NKTelco strives to make the best decisions for our Cable TV customers. We recently completed a contract with ESPN/Disney in conjunction with the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC). With the new contract we are required to add the ACC Network – which will be found on channel 280 (Supreme Package) Due to declining viewership and content, and suggestion by NCTC, we have decided to eliminate ESPN Classic from our Basic Package. Both of these changes will become effective September 1, 2021 At this time we will not be replacing channel 25 or 98 as we investigate other potential networks.
Since 1905 The New Knoxville Telephone Company has provided telephone service to New Knoxville and the surrounding areas. In 1997 the company expanded to service areas outside of New Knoxville. As the landscape of broadband services continues to change, the company has determined that aligning with a strategic partner will be in the best interest of our shareholders, customers and employees.
On July 30th the New Knoxville Telephone entered into a merger agreement with Schurz Communications Inc. This was not a quick and easy decision; however, for the longevity of the NKTelco brand and ongoing growth in our industry, it was determined this was the correct path forward. After Shareholder and regulatory approval, the transition will be seamless.
Schurz Communications was founded in 1872 and has a fifth generation family member as the active CEO. They believe in local business and strong community support just like NKTelco.
The day to day operations, the team of employees and local management here at NKTelco will remain the same. Our commitment to local community involvement will only grow.
Below is the press release that Schurz released on 8-4-2021.Read More
It is time once again for a technical phenomenon called “sun outages”, also called “solar outage” and “sun spots”. For a period of about 15 days, starting March 1st at our Headend site, the sun will cause “solar interference” to all geostationary satellite signals coming into our headend. As the sun’s path across the sky gets lower each day, there are times when it is in a direct line behind a communication satellite that is sending signals to our receiving satellite dish here in Wapakoneta. When the dish antenna is looking into the sun, the interference from the sun overrides the signals from the satellite. This is when a sun outage occurs.
Sun outages typically can last as long as 15 minutes per channel and take place each day over a period of 15 days. The effects of sun outages vary in degree from minimal to total outage throughout the 15 day period. Once it reaches its peak, the interference will gradually decrease becoming less noticeable each day after. The rolling outages will start at approximately 2PM EST each day and should be over by approximately 6PM EST. This will affect none of the off-air channels.
Dear Valued Customer,
NKTelco is dedicated to our customers and the communities we serve. We strive to provide you with exceptional Cable TV programming, pricing and local customer service. It is our goal to meet and exceed your expectations. We continue to upgrade our Fiber to-the-Home technology to support the growing demands of today’s Internet.
We will be making the following changes – between now and 1/4/2021:
NKTelco is happy to announce the addition of NewsMax to our basic package.
WGN has changed from a regional broadcaster to a satellite distributed channel. That requires us to move it out of the local channel package (budget) and we will be moving it to the basic package.
WRGT/FOX will no longer allow us to offer this channel to our Lima market, so that will come out of the budget package for New Knoxville, New Bremen and Minster subscribers.
Please follow us on social media and our website under Breaking News to see updates of channel
changes, updated channel guides, outages and other news regarding your services. We will be making some channel placement changes to allow for all networks to be on the same channel on all lineups. This will require a channel scan for TV’s without a Set Top Box.
As a new year approaches we have reviewed our costs for quality Cable programming. Our programmers have once again raised their monthly subscriber fees and NKTelco has to pass a portion of the increase on to our customers. This increase will take effect January 1, 2021.
- Budget Cable TV: $ 42.95 ($3 increase)
- Basic Cable TV: $ 93.95 ($4 increase)
- Supreme Cable TV: $111.95 ($6 increase)
- Ultimate Cable TV: $154.95 ($8 increase)
- Cinemax: $ 13.95 ($2 increase)
- TMC/Showtime/Flix: $ 16.95 ($2 increase)
We plan to continue offering ABC, CBS and NBC stations from both the Lima and Dayton markets (with the exception of WRGT). NKTelco is the ONLY local provider to offer these off-air channels from both markets. We do have to pay subscriber rates for all the channels but our viewership ratings show the majority of our customers watch local channels from both markets. This information indicates having both markets is a win-win for our customers – allowing you to watch your favorite news channel and sports team.
NKTelco looks forward to providing you with the service you have known for many years and wants to thank you, our customer, for choosing local.
NKTelco Sports is pleased to provide videos of High School sports for many of the surrounding schools. Since limited seating is available for winter sports, NKTelco will be working with the New Bremen, Minster, and New Knoxville schools to provide live broadcasts of most home indoor sporting events. NKTelco has installed automated cameras to catch all the action in these three schools.
Our goal will be to provide live coverage for high school and junior high basketball. The games will be available on our NKT.tv streaming platform. Most of the games are scheduled to have live announcers however some will not. As in the past, NKTelco will continue to film our full crew broadcast games. Both automated and full production game schedules are available on our website.
You can go to our NKTelco Sports website and follow the links to order. We will be adding links to the schools’ websites to make the signup process easy and quick. NKTelco will be revenue sharing proceeds with the schools to help support the loss of revenue they are experiencing.
A tutorial showing how to sign up and watch the games is posted on our website. NKTelco will film the boys’ and girls’ games and offer three options. $10.00 for a single event viewable for 4 days, $30.00 for a monthly event, and the game will be moved to our free library 4 days after the live game, and a season pass for $80.00 so you can watch the whole boys and girls basketball regular-season games COMING SOON. NKTelco is filming a select number of Jr. high games and those will be available on a per-game view for $5.00. All games we film will be moved to our sports archived games page after 4 days and then they will be available to anyone for free.
Winning with Teamwork!

To our valued customers,
We wanted to provide a brief overview of the nationwide network outage that occurred during the morning hours on Sunday, August 30th causing connectivity issues to many locations on the internet. CenturyLink/Level3 is a network service provider that operates a large global network that our providers peer with and our providers noticed issues around 7 am. Upon discovering issues, our providers and our network team tried to migrate traffic to other partners with no success. It appears that while CenturyLink was offline between our networks, they were still advertising our networks to the world causing traffic to reach their network instead of other providers. They have since confirmed that an automated process loaded a bad configuration across their network which didn’t allow these sessions to shutdown properly and permit the normal flow of traffic. You can read many more technical details by searching online at many of the major news outlets. This is one of the largest internet outages of it’s kind and it has received appropriate press if you wish to read further. We have linked a couple of articles below for further reading!
We have seen an increased amount of spoofing attempts as of late and wanted to provide some tips on how to detect these types of emails. Please note: We will never contact you via email asking you to click on any links or download any attachments. This is usually a good indication the email is illegitimate.
Whenever you are unsure if an email is legitimate you can place your mouse over the “Sender” and it will let you know what email address this email was sent from.
For instance: Below are some screenshots on some of the most recent scams that we have seen. The most recent spoofing attempt we’ve seen was the “Email storage limit has been exceeded” emails that were delivered this weekend. It looks somewhat legitimate but if you mouse over the “Sender” (see the screenshot below) you can see that it was sent from the fake email listed in the screenshot.
If you are unsure of a specific email you can also forward a copy to firstname.lastname@example.org and we can help you to determine if the email is legitimate or not.
